Opportunities and pitfalls with low-cost environmental sensors: lessons from air pollution

The Center for Environmental Intelligence is delighted to invite you to join us for the Research Seminar: “Opportunities and pitfalls with low-cost environmental sensors: lessons from air pollution”
Event Details:
🗓 Date: Wednesday, October 01, 2025
🕘 Time: 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM
📍 Venue: Room D305, VinUniversity
Featured Speaker: Dr. Stefan Gillott
Dr. Stefan Gillott holds an MEnv in Environmental Science from the University of York (2017) and a PhD in Environmental Science from Imperial College London (2023), where he applied machine learning to atmospheric data and low-cost air pollution sensors. His research experience spans laboratory, field, and computational work, including studies on trace gas emissions, hydraulic fracturing, and wildfire monitoring in Indonesia. Beyond academia, Dr. Gillott has worked as Senior and Lead Data Scientist at Dyson and Principal Data and Sensor Scientist at a start-up, specializing in air pollution monitoring. In industry, he has led interdisciplinary teams, prototyping digital and physical ideas as well as product innovation with environmental sensors. Here he worked in a range of areas including computer vision, IoT, wearables and indoor environments.
This seminar promises to be an enriching experience for researchers, faculty, and students interested in the latest developments in environmental sensors.
